New Med Surg / ICU Director

Magruder is excited to announce the promotion of Heather Schwerer MSN, RN, as the Director of the Medical-Surgical/Intensive Care Unit (Med-surg/ICU).  Heather began her career at Magruder in 2012, as a staff nurse for the Med-surg/ICU and was promoted to coordinator of these units, in 2016.    As unit coordinator, Heather was responsible for helping to implement new procedures, staff education, along with implementing new policies and pandemic readiness during the COVID epidemic. 

In January 2020, while working in the coordinator position, Heather furthered her education and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing, with emphasis on Nursing Education.  In Heather’s new role as director, she will be responsible for providing the tools and education required by her staff to provide excellent care to our patient population, while working with other departments within the hospital to ensure standards and regulatory requirements are met.
