Magruder Hospital Receives Performance Leadership Award for Quality
Magruder Hospital has been recognized with a 2022 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Quality. Given by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor top quartile performance (e.g., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and Patient Perspective. Magruder is 1 of 10 hospitals in Ohio to receive the award.
“These last few years in healthcare have been a challenge, which makes this award even more meaningful. Recognizing our physicians, providers and clinicians for the quality care they deliver to patients every day is very rewarding. Our teams do amazing work,” said Nick Marsico, Magruder’s President & CEO.
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. INDEX data is trusted and relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across several areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
Magruder Hospital Again Earns 5-Star Rating from CMS
Magruder Hospital has once again achieved a five-star rating, the highest ranking possible, for overall quality of care from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). An overall star rating is based on how well a hospital performs across different areas of quality such as treating heart attacks and pneumonia, readmission rates, safety and timeliness of care, and overall patient experience.
Magruder’s rating is notable because it ranks the hospital among the top 10% of hospitals in the state of Ohio.
“Our patients are at the center of everything we do and these ratings show that our team is providing the right care for our patients, in the right ways and for the right reasons: to save lives,” said Nick Marsico, Magruder Hospital President & CEO. “It is gratifying to see that the hard work and commitment of our physicians and healthcare professionals has been recognized as being among our nation’s best. This designation from CMS shows we are delivering on our mission statement of Improving Lives Together.”
CMS rated more than 3,000 hospitals across the nation on a scale of one- to five-stars. Medicare based the star ratings on measures that include patient reviews and outcomes and infection rates. Any ranking above three stars is considered to be an above-average score. The government agency created the rating system to help consumers evaluate and compare quality care among hospitals in their communities.
